Gnome recently used items

To clear the recently used menu from Gnome simply remove the file ~/.recently-used.xbel.  The file will be recreated starting a fresh set of "recently used" items.  If you want to stop the listing of your recent documents altogether than rename/delete the ~/.recently-used.xbel file and create of folder of the same name (including the .xbel extension).  Remember to logout and in again. This works with Ubuntu 10.10.
