Ubuntu 11.04 and bluetooth

Certain bluetooth adapters no longer appear to work under 11.04.  There are however workarounds.  When your bluetooth adapter is connected to your PC, you can enter the following in a terminal session:

sudo killall bluetoothd
sudo bluetoothd

If your bluetooth adapter is connected to the machine at boot up, then you can edit the script file /etc/rd.local to include the following line:

service bluetooth restart

You should also create a file in /etc/pm/sleep.d  similar to the 12_wireless script so that upon restore the bluetooth service is restarted.

#!/bin/bash

case "$1" in
hibernate|suspend)
;;
thaw|resume)
service bluetooth restart
sleep 1
;;
*)
;;
esac
